- IT Systems Support Specialist

Job Summary and Scope of Responsibility:
The Systems Support Specialist’s primary responsibility is assisting with the technology department's day-to-day operations. They will support the school by providing first-level technology support and troubleshooting various systems, printers, and peripherals. The Systems Support Specialist will report to the Director of Technology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Technical Support and User Assistance:
- Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 technical support for internal employees across various operating systems (macOS, Chrome, iOS) and applications (e.g., Google Workspace, EDU apps, etc.).
- Deploy, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware (laptops, desktops, printers, mobile devices) and software issues in a timely manner.
- Manage the IT Help Desk system, including logging, tracking, and prioritizing support tickets to meet defined service-level agreements (SLAs).
- Escalate and assign tickets to other members of the IT department in the Helpdesk system.
- Perform user account management, including onboarding (setup and provisioning), offboarding (data retrieval and de-provisioning), and permission changes.
- Oversee the deployment and troubleshooting of audio/visual equipment, including but not limited to projectors, interactive displays, and cameras.
- Copier and printer support, including interactions with third-party support providers.
Inventory and Documentation:
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all IT assets, including hardware, consumables, and peripherals.
- Oversee the purchase requests for IT equipment and consumables.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for IT procedures, system configurations, and user guides to facilitate knowledge transfer and self-service.
- Assist with IT procurement processes, researching and recommending new equipment and software purchases.
- Inform the Director of Technology of ongoing IT trends in the Bernard Zell community.
- Assist teachers in creating IT Documentation for classroom projects.
School Year Turnover:
- Manage end-of-year and start-of-year technology processes, including collecting, inspecting, updating, repairing, and deploying student devices and peripherals.
- Maintain classroom technology systems, performing routine upkeep on projectors, interactive displays, and connectivity features to ensure functionality.
- Oversee technology lifecycle and compliance, coordinating recycling, disposal of outdated hardware, and assisting the Director of Technology with Summer interns and related projects.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in IT Helpdesk systems required.
- Experience in troubleshooting macOS and iOS software environments required.
- BS in CS, CIS, or related discipline, or comparable years of work experience preferred.
- Experience in Bash, PowerShell, Python, GAM, and other scripting languages preferred.
- Any other certifications (Cisco, Apple, Microsoft, A+, etc) preferred.
- Experience managing a Google Apps environment and creating Google Apps scripts preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
- Ability to be resourceful and work independently is required.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks successfully, with strong attention to detail required.
- Familiarity or experience with JAMF products required.
- Familiarity with Unix Scripting required.
- Familiarity or experience with network infrastructure, including switches and access points preferred.
General Information
- The general workday is 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., but must be flexible to attend events and meetings beyond normal working hours.
- Work is performed on site.
- Must be willing and capable of lifting boxes of up to 50 lbs.
Compensation:
Bernard Zell offers competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and a supportive workplace culture.
